In order to produce the best water treatment for your drinking water, the system should consist of a dedicated drinking water faucet/dispenser with a controlled flow rate of approximately 1/2 gallon per minute. This provides the water with enough contact time with the filter media and not overused cleaning dishes. It is not proper treatment to install a filter on the main kitchen faucet. The flow rate is at least 6 times too fast with much waste with washing dishes and other household usages. If there is no choice, we do carry a few kitchen faucets (see the different kitchen faucets pages on our index above) that either have a separate filtered water spout or a filtered water nozzle built in. There is also one filter that claims to be designed to be installed on the main faucet. It is to be expected that the final water quality most likely will not be as comparible and more frequent cartridge changes are required with that choice. It is strongly recommended that, if possible, your system be redesigned, especially if you have an expensive stainless steel housing that is giving your less than the highest quality water possible.
